Physical and Health Education

Physical Education

Physical education in the MYP is concerned with more than just participating in sports and games. Its primary aims are to encourage the development of intelligent performers and to enable students to understand the importance of a balanced, healthy lifestyle.

Throughout the five years of the MYP, students will develop knowledge, critical thinking and reflection skills, a sense of responsibility, and interpersonal and self-motivational skills. Through exploring a variety of key and related concepts, students develop both transferable skills and conceptual understanding, allowing them to succeed in a variety of different areas. Students have extensive opportunities to develop their Physical and Health understanding and abilities by participating in our extra-curricular programme in competitive or non-competitive activities. Following on from MYP PHE is the opportunity to study Sports and Exercise Health Science, allowing students to inquire deeply into Human Movement, Capability and Biomechanics.
