Assessment is a daily part of life at BBIS. We collect and use information about students’ learning experiences, achievements, and progress made throughout their academic journey to help us develop responsive teaching experiences, which in turn, help students learn more. We believe that parents should be involved in assessment at our school and develop a strong partnership in which we can share children’s learning targets. This information is accessible through our Learning Ladders portal throughout the year and at parent meetings and in reports.
A mix of formative and summative assessments are in place to ensure teachers can track students’ progress. Formative assessment is carried out by teachers every day in every lesson. It allows teachers to understand pupil performance continuingly. Summative assessment tests will track pupil performance and understanding through marks or grades. This informs report making. We aim to make an assessment at BBIS that is purposeful, easy to understand and student-centred.
