Art and Design
Primary Visual Arts and Design provides students with an open space to explore ideas and record experiences by producing creative work in a range of mediums. Individual expression is explored through projects that inspire and challenge students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. Students will continue to build proficiency in drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles, collage, and additional techniques throughout the key stages. Students will learn the language of art and design to evaluate and analyse the creative works of others and be able to think critically about the development and refinement of their own abilities. It is a highly cross-curricular subject, integrating knowledge of literacy, history and science to engage students and open discussion on the global impact of art and design and its contributions to shaping society and culture.
