Welcome from the Principal
Welcome to Budapest British International School.
Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions a family can make. It is about finding a community where children are known, valued and inspired to become the very best version of themselves.
At BBIS, we believe that people flourish when they belong. Every child deserves to feel a genuine sense of belonging, to be challenged to reach their potential and to be supported by people who believe in them. Every family deserves to feel part of a caring and connected community. Every member of staff deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and make a meaningful difference.
Everything we do begins with this belief: creating the conditions where people can flourish.
As the only school in Budapest offering the full International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum—from the Primary Years Programme through to the Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme—we provide a coherent educational journey from Early Childhood through to graduation. Our aim is to develop not only knowledgeable students, but curious, compassionate and capable young people who are ready to contribute positively to the world.
For Our Students
Everything we do begins with one simple belief: students come first.
Every decision we make is guided by one question: How will this benefit our learners?
We want every student to experience the excitement of discovering new ideas, the confidence that comes from overcoming challenges and the sense of belonging that allows them to be themselves.
Learning at BBIS is active, purposeful and engaging. Through inquiry, collaboration and reflection, students develop the knowledge, skills and understanding to thrive academically while growing into compassionate, resilient and internationally minded young people.
We encourage students to ask thoughtful questions, embrace challenge, think critically and act with integrity. Above all, we want every child to discover who they are, develop their strengths and understand the positive difference they can make in the world.
For Our Families
Exceptional schools are built on strong partnerships.
BBIS is a diverse international community where students, families and colleagues learn from one another every day. Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths, helping young people develop respect, empathy and a broader understanding of the world.
We believe parents and caregivers are essential partners in their children’s education. A strong school community is created when students, staff and families actively participate in school life, share responsibility for learning and develop a genuine sense of belonging.
Through trust, communication and shared purpose, we are committed to strengthening a connected and engaged community where every family feels welcomed, valued and empowered to contribute to the life of BBIS.
For Our Staff
The greatest influence on a student’s education is the quality of the people who work with them every day.
At BBIS, we are committed to attracting, developing and supporting exceptional educators who are passionate about learning and dedicated to their craft. We believe great teachers never stop learning themselves.
Through collaboration, professional inquiry and reflection, our staff continually develop their practice so that every student benefits from the very best learning experiences.
We strive to create a culture where adults continue to learn, grow and inspire one another, because when educators flourish, students flourish too.
Looking Ahead
Our purpose is simple: to continue developing a school where every student flourishes, every member of staff thrives, every family feels connected and our community grows stronger together.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about BBIS. Whether you are exploring our school for the first time or are already part of our community, we look forward to welcoming you.
Because when people truly feel they belong, they have the confidence to learn, the courage to grow and the opportunity to flourish.
